I am an old sailor of cruising type sailboats. I grew up near the water in an area where there were shanty boats and barges with full size bungalows built on them were common.I am not a shanty boater but the subject is near and dear to me. You just can’t do it all. Doug
I am an old sailboater. I grew up near the water in an area where there were many shanty boats and Rail road barges with whole Bungalows built on them. Families lived in them and migrated to other areas for work. Many were wood ship builders that moved from one ship yard to another for work. I was in 1934 so by then the yards were only repairing wooden boats. Those guys transitioned to steel ship building. Most lived on the boats in local creeks around the area I grew up in. Some even lived on old sailing ships that were setting on the bottom of those same creeks. I had good friends that lived there. I remember one boy whose address was Bear Creek on the water. Doug
Hi Douglas. Great thoughts. I’d love to have you share those stories and more on the form at the top of this page. If you do that I’ll be able to share it with a higher profile on the site. You put in a title. Write your content. Type the odd blue letters and numbers into a box to show that you are a human and not some internet robot trying to scam the system. Then click publish. I’ll post your story as soon as I can after that. Bryan
