Puddle Duck: In Spite of Life, it’s Taking Shape

Life gets in the way of boat building… guaranteed.  Instead of building we did dinner and a play with friends, a retirement celebration breakfast, and lunch with a friend of mine who has been in the hospital of late.  All good, even great, but my planned progress was shut down.   Then I am taking the rest of the week off from work, but have a dentist visit tomorrow and a trip to see my daughter in Portland, Oregon.  (I live in Seattle).  Again, all good, but it sets back progress by a few days.  Then, the weather is supposed to turn when I get back.

Yeah, life gets in the way of boat building.

I spent most of the weekend creating the inner flotation chambers and did epoxy fillets on about 2/3rds of the seams.   Progress.

I put a footstool inside and tried the boat on for size.  Nobody has ever called me petite, but the boat should work.  See above.  Below is a shot of the boat with a Folbot mast, just to test for size.

I’m building the boat in my driveway and as a result, I’ve talked to all sorts of people who are walking by.  I met a fascinating guy who is writing pilots for screenplays, another who collects those tiny little Honda 50 and 90 mini motorcycles, and an older couple that had built a camper many years back.  I love that.
