Pilot House Sailing Barge

Harry 2 is a 27 foot sailing scow from the drawing boards of Tad Roberts in Canada.   I’ve always thought it a nice design and wish I had the space/time to build it.   I see there is a new pilot house version.

  • Construction: Sheathed sheet plywood planking over plywood bulkheads.
  • LOD: 30′ 0″
  • LWL: 27’0″
  • Beam: 8’6″
  • Draft: 12” leeboards up / 4’ 11” leeboards down
  • Displacement: 7000 lbs
  • Ballast: = 2500 pounds
  • Sail Area: 570 sq.ft.
  • General Comments:A trailerable development of my 1985 design, Harry. Harry II and Little Tilikum are modest cruisers, fully able to undertake a coastal cruise in Florida, the Carolinas, British Columbia, the great rivers of Europe or Asia, or the Great Lakes.  They can always find shelter due to very shoal draft, and turn up anchored on mudflats in the smallest creeks.  They are intended to provide maximum pleasure and ability, for the smallest investment.
