No, this isn’t one of those old jokes about the guy building the sailboat in his basement and not being able to get it through the door.
Kerry Elwood’s homemade mini-houseboat will fit out the door of his mom’s garage in South Salem quite nicely, thank you very much.
And he’s pretty much on track since he began the project in October 2012.
“If I get it launched by the summer, it will be on schedule,” said Elwood, a commercial and fine-art airbrush artist in real life. “I sort of wanted it to be a two-year build, and I’m well past the halfway mark.”
And after seeing it and writing about it as more or less an overturned marine-plywood-and-plank-framed barge in December 2012 about three months into the project, the transformation is stunning. Read More Facebook
