Boat 1 – GT 27 HouseBoat

Picture

To get experience fitting out a full scale boat, I bought some cheap plans for a house boat at http://www.bateau.com/proddetail.php?prod=GT27
It is a plywood and fibreglass design, easy to build hopefully, roomy craft for flitting and sitting around  the Huon River in. The boat plans are designed so that the topsides can be altered to suit personal preferences. As a design exercise, I engaged a long term internet pal and keen boat designer (www.newmasterplan.blogspot.com )
to see if we could improved the “old maid” appearance of the topsides.

The re-designed topsides – initial concept

Well, I think the initial concept is far and away more attractive, and will result in a much nicer on water environment.

    Well, I suppose if 50s design isn’t “old maid-ish…”

I like the design, but it seems as the writer isn’t aware that it is decidedly retro….

I agree that the old design is rather nice in a retro way. A classic look. But.. to each their own! Bryan
