From the website: Hey this is a website showing how to make a Jon boat I made a while back. I built this boat for $75 using some free material and some unconventional methods. I will also be commenting on various stages on the building of the boat. Recommending new ways of doing things, and also letting those interested in my boat comment and suggest new things for future boat builders. If you used these plans please consider donating a couple bucks to keep this site going, anything will be appreciated!
These are hand drawn plans of the boat i built that I then scanned onto my computer. They are sufficient for most handy people to tackle.
Step 1: Depending on whether you bought 2x4s for just bought 1x2s you can skip ripping those boards in half. If I were to do it over again I would just buy 1x2s it would be much easier. When you have all your pieces cut to the correct length you can start assembling the sides. You can use drywall screws for this. please consult my post about materials if you want different options.
Step 2: Now you can put your two sides together. This is fun as the boat really takes shape now. When screwing together the side be careful not to hit screws that you already put into the boat, I ran into this problem somewhat.
Step 3: This step is fairly simple, just add seat braces to the frame this is done just under the top of the frame. Even if you don’t plan to have three people in your boat add three seat braces just for stability in frame. Again drywall screw worked great for me.
