Escargot Build 22

October 16, 2011
By

Our first restful night was on the main Skagit just above Mount Vernon. On the way there we stopped in Mount Vernon and discovered a big top circus at the field that boatramp led to! Circus Chimera. I hope to have pictures soon. Alex had never been to a bigtop circus and I hadn’t been to one in years! A perfect way to spend the first afternoon of our trip! We had popcorn, peanuts, cotton candy… and bought a couple of little circus items… junky stuff.. but fun!

Along the way down the North Fork we saw maybe a half dozen boats at docks… none being used. All of them, just about, were of this design. Funny thing. When I show people my boat I can sometimes see them puzzled about the hull shape. “With a shape like that”, they say, “it must be a pig in the water”. To them a boat must look like a mass produced fiberglass boat. It was nice to see that someone who knew river boating thought a hull like mine was the best way to go.
